Honestly: NordVPN ships more features. They have ~10× the engineering team and 10+ years of head start. If you actually use Double VPN or Onion-over-VPN or a dedicated IP for hosting, ClownVPN doesn't replace that.

🎪 Privacy & No-Logs Comparison

Both NordVPN and ClownVPN run no-log policies. The difference is in verification:

NordVPN has been audited by PwC (2018, 2020) and Deloitte (2022). Independent firms have read their config, inspected their servers, and signed off on the no-log claim. That's a real trust advantage.
NordVPN runs RAM-only servers (their "Colocated Servers" initiative) — same idea as our setup. Reboot wipes everything.
NordVPN is incorporated in Panama, which has no mandatory data retention laws.
ClownVPN has architectural no-logs (config- level logging disabled, RAM-only) but has not yet had third-party audit. We've planned one for late 2026.

Yes. NordVPN's no-logs policy has been audited multiple times by PwC (now Deloitte). That's a real trust advantage they have over us — we haven't been third-party audited yet (planned for late 2026). Their RAM-only servers also limit what could be subpoenaed.

Why is NordVPN so much more expensive?

Server infrastructure across 60+ countries, regulatory compliance for international operations, marketing, and a paid support team. None of that is free to maintain. Their 24-month plans bring per-month costs down to ~$3.39 but that's still real money over the lifetime of the subscription.

Will ClownVPN ever match NordVPN's feature set?

Not by design. We're committed to one free tier with the core features (WireGuard, AES-256, kill switch, split tunneling, no logs). Adding Double VPN, Onion-over-VPN, dedicated IPs, and meshnet would require either subscription revenue or compromised ad-supported funding. We'd rather stay focused.

If I already have NordVPN, should I switch?

Probably not if you've prepaid a year and use the international servers. ClownVPN doesn't replace what you get from NordVPN's coverage. If you're nearing renewal and your main use is US-based privacy, try ClownVPN free for a week before paying again.
