No Logs.
Receipts Inside.

Every other VPN claims "no logs". Here's the part most of them won't show: a row-by-row breakdown of what we actually keep, in what format, for how long.

🎪 The Receipt Table

For every common piece of VPN-adjacent data, here's exactly what we do. Marketing-free, opinion-free, what's-in-the-code-free.

Data type Do we collect it? If yes — where & for how long
Your originating IP addressNo
VPN-assigned IP addressNo
Destinations you visit (sites, IPs)No
DNS query contentsNo
Bandwidth used per sessionNo
Session start / end timestampsNo
Which server you connected toNo
Email / phone / real nameNo(no accounts exist)
Payment infoNo(no payments exist)
Aggregate concurrent users per serverYesCannot be tied to you. 30 days.
Anonymous crash reportsYesStack trace + device model. 90 days.
Ad SDK Advertising IDYesHandled by ad network. You can reset/opt out anytime.
Waitlist email (if you signed up)YesUntil launch notice + 30 days. Then deleted.

This table matches Section 3 and Section 4 of our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is the legally binding version.

🎪 How The Tunnel Is Built To Forget

📜 Logging is off, not "filtered later"

VPN servers run WireGuard with logging explicitly disabled at the config level. There is no log file to filter, redact, or "lose". The data is never written.

💨 RAM-disk infra

Server state lives in RAM. A reboot wipes everything. Nothing persists to disk that could be subpoenaed.

🔒 We don't run the DNS

DNS queries from your device are encrypted and sent to public resolvers (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 default, configurable). Our nodes never see the unencrypted query.

🚫 No user accounts

There's no login. Nothing identifies one ClownVPN user from another at the network layer except their unsaved, ephemeral tunnel session.

🎪 If We Got Subpoenaed Tomorrow

Realistically, here's what we could hand over in response to a valid US court order or MLAT request:

✓ What we have
  • Aggregate server-load stats (not tied to any user).
  • Crash reports from the past 90 days, with stack traces and device-class fingerprints.
  • Waitlist emails of users who haven't been notified yet.
  • Our infrastructure topology (where servers physically are).
✗ What we don't have
  • Any record that a specific person used the service.
  • Any record of which sites or IPs anyone visited.
  • Any record of session times tied to a user.
  • The contents of anyone's traffic.

A subpoena demanding "all logs for user X" returns the same answer whether X is a regular user, a journalist, or a hypothetical bad actor: we don't have it.

🎪 FAQ

What does "no logs" actually mean?
It means our servers never write any record tying you to a session: not your IP, not your DNS queries, not your destinations, not the timestamps. If a server is seized tomorrow, there is nothing meaningful on it about you.
Why should I trust your no-log claim?
You don't have to trust the word. You can read the table on this page, audit our SDK behavior at runtime (mitmproxy works), and read our infrastructure code as we open-source it. Third-party audits are on the roadmap.
What about the ad SDK — doesn't that log me?
The ad SDK uses your device Advertising ID (which you can reset/disable). It does not see your VPN traffic. It runs in the app process and communicates with the ad server directly, outside the VPN tunnel's decision-making.
Can a court order force you to start logging?
Under US law, courts can compel future logging in narrow circumstances (the "Lavabit scenario"). If we ever received such an order, our policy is to fight it in court and, if unavoidable, to publish a warrant canary about it.
Have you been audited by an independent firm?
Not yet. Third-party audit is on the 2026 roadmap. When it happens we will publish the full report.
